We are proud to be supporting one of our longstanding consultancy clients as they look to appoint a Project Controls Lead to sit at Director level within their growing Infrastructure division. This is a genuinely exciting appointment, not a like for like replacement, but a newly created position driven by real momentum and a healthy forward pipeline. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure programmes and is now at a stage where it wants to properly establish and scale its Project Controls service line.
Reporting directly to the Director of Infrastructure, you will take strategic and operational ownership of the Project Controls service line. This covers the full spectrum of planning, cost management, risk, change control and programme reporting across a portfolio of major infrastructure programmes. The scope of the role is broad and deliberately so. Day-to-day you will be just as focused on client relationships and business development as you will be on delivery governance and team performance. You will hold the P&L, manage utilisation and pipeline, and play an active role in bidding and winning new work.
Key responsibilities of the Project Controls Lead:- Leading and growing the Project Controls service offering, setting standards, tools and frameworks across the division
- Providing senior oversight across multiple concurrent infrastructure programmes, ensuring quality, governance and client satisfaction
- Taking ownership of the service line P&L, managing forecasting, resource utilisation and pipeline to deliver against financial targets
- Building and maintaining client relationships at a senior level, and actively supporting bids, proposals and presentations
- Recruiting, mentoring and developing a capable team, creating a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
- Driving consistency across reporting, systems and processes
- Representing the business at industry level and contributing to its profile in the infrastructure market
- A solid track record of leading Project Controls functions within a consultancy or complex programme delivery environment
- Broad technical expertise across planning, cost, risk, change and programme reporting
- Proven experience managing a service line or business unit, including P&L responsibility
- The ability to build and sustain client relationships, with demonstrable success in business development and bid leadership
- Experience managing and growing teams, with a genuine commitment to developing people
- A background in infrastructure, construction or regulated industries with exposure to large scale, high value programmes
- Strategic thinking combined with a practical, delivery-focused mindset
- A salary in the region of £85,000 – £105,000 depending on experience plus car allowance
- A comprehensive benefits package including pension of 6%, private healthcare (family included), 26 days annual leave plus public holidays with the ability to buy/sell 5 and discretionary bonus
- The autonomy to shape and build as this is not a role where strategy is handed down to you
- Exposure to some of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes
- A collaborative, people-first culture within a business that is genuinely growing
- Clear progression within an organisation backed by global capability and resource
