An Associate Director Architect is required to join a long established multi-disciplinary practice consisting of Architects, consulting engineers and other supporting consultants. Conrad Consulting have been retained to source a dynamic and enthusiastic Associate Director or Director level Architect who is looking to progress their career and to take a leading role in spearheading the architectural side of the business. The role carries the potential for advancement to Equity Partner level in the business after a qualifying period.

The successful candidate should have experience in managing a team of architectural staff and a leading role in nurturing existing client relationships and developing new business. The position offers the very best of modern hybrid flexible working and on the days where your preference is to be office based, the role can be based in either Leeds or our clients HQ in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement detailed sector specific targets to meet the Practice objectives.
  • Manage architectural budgets and targets and provide monthly reporting.
  • Develop and implement a New Business Development process in order to generate new business and therefore profitable business growth.
  • Scope, plan and negotiate the pricing of architectural projects in line with our clients current processes.
  • Allocate and manage project resources ensuring the right staff are allocated to all projects in terms of skill and experience levels.
  • Report against performance objectives in terms of invoicing versus targets and associated profitability.
  • Manage client relationships and expectations in order to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Manage client feedback and act on improvements suggested.
  • Develop and build personal client networks and reputation through attendance at industry networking events and submission of awards.
  • Comply with all financial management processes in terms of timely project invoicing in order to maintain healthy cashflow.
  • Ensure clear performance targets are set during the project planning phase in order to ensure all projects are delivered within time and cost budgets.
  • Continue the development of architectural knowledge, design quality and sustainability within the practice.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures in order to ensure the effective recruitment, management, retention and continuous professional development of all architectural staff.
  • Ensure a full programme of Continual Professional Development (CPD) is in place to maintain a professional service and competence in areas relevant to our areas of work.

  • Develop strategy and plans for agreed areas of the business based on experience and industry knowledge.
  • IT literate in terms of all current computer packages and presentation software.
  • Excellent illustration and presentation skills.
Education / Qualifications / Experience:
  • RIBA Chartered Architect and registered with the ARB.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development throughout their career to date.
  • Demonstrable industry wide relationships and connections.
  • Technically competent designer who has successfully designed and managed a number of projects across various sectors and the full project lifecycle.
  • Leading multiple design teams across a range of projects.
The Package:
  • Competitive salary depending on experience including car allowance £80,000 - £100,000.
  • Profit related bonus subject to company performance.
  • Potential to acquire equity share subject to performance.
  • 5% pension contribution.
  • Private healthcare package including family members (partner & dependents).
  • Payment of ARB and RIBA membership subscriptions.
  • 27 days holidays per year plus bank holidays plus close down between Christmas and the New Year.
