Overview
As Director of Building Surveying, you will lead and grow the dilapidations service line within a London team serving institutional investors and commercial clients. You will combine hands-on technical delivery with client management, business development and strategic leadership to raise the service's profile and market share. You will mentor teams, shape service strategies and collaborate across Building Surveying, Development, Engineering and Sustainability to drive growth. The role offers autonomy to influence strategy while remaining involved in delivery and technical work.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the dilapidations service line to drive growth and market presence
- Manage and deliver complex building surveying and dilapidations instructions
- Strengthen relationships with institutional, investment and commercial clients
- Identify and win new business opportunities and generate client introductions
- Support development and performance of the wider technical team
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching to surveyors
- Drive best practice, consistency and quality across dilapidations services
- Develop service-line strategies, priorities and SMART objectives
- Collaborate with Building Surveying, Development, Engineering and Sustainability teams
- Support marketing and business development activities (capability statements, case studies, client presentations)
- Identify opportunities to broaden the service and diversify client relationships
- Maintain high standards of risk management, technical quality and commercial performance
- Work towards agreed fee-generation and business-development targets
Key requirements
- MRICS qualification with a Building Surveying degree or equivalent
- Extensive experience in Building Surveying and commercial dilapidations
- Strong understanding of the commercial property market
- Established client network with demonstrable new business ability
- Proven track record delivering high-quality technical consultancy
- Strong commercial and business-development skills
- Experience managing, mentoring and developing surveying teams
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Confidence to operate at Director level
- Proactive, entrepreneurial approach with opportunity identification and conversion
