Our client is a successful and well-established family-owned contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across multiple sectors throughout the Central Belt. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Estimator to join their team and play a key role in securing new business. This role will be based in their offices in Glasgow. Working within a close-knit and supportive environment, you will be responsible for preparing competitive tenders and helping drive the continued success of a business built on strong relationships, quality workmanship, and repeat client partnerships. The majority of projects are secured through competitive tendering, with contract values typically ranging from £25,000 to £750,000, offering a varied and engaging workload.

Key Responsibilities of the Estimator:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documentation.
  • Undertake detailed take-offs and cost analysis.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities within tender submissions.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop winning tender strategies.
  • Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits where required.
  • Maintain pricing databases and records to support future bids.
  • Assist with project handovers to operational teams following successful awards.

Requirements of the Estimator:

  • Previous estimating experience within construction, fit-out, interiors, refurbishment, or a related sector.
  • Strong understanding of the competitive tendering process.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
