Conrad Consulting have partnered with an established architectural practice based in York to recruit an experienced Associate level Architect or Architectural Technologist to deliver creative, practical and commercially focused design solutions across a diverse range of sectors. With a close-knit team of around eight professionals, the practice combines ambitious design thinking with a hands-on, collaborative approach to project delivery. From masterplanning and commercial developments through to contractor-led schemes, the business prides itself on delivering high-quality projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking to appoint an Associate Architect to support the continued growth of their practice. While the position is offered at Associate level, applications are also welcomed from experienced Senior Architects or Senior Architectural Technologists who are ready to step into a leadership role. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong individual who enjoys taking ownership of project delivery and working across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating technical information, overseeing drawing production and supporting projects through the technical design and construction stages. You'll work closely with a collaborative team, mentoring junior colleagues and coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a consistently high standard. Previous management experience would be beneficial but isn't essential. More important is the ability to lead by example, communicate effectively and confidently support others within the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production and coordination of technical drawing packages using Revit.
- Manage projects through the technical design and construction phases.
- Mentor and support junior Architects and Architectural Technologists.
- Coordinate technical information with clients, consultants and contractors.
- Produce high-quality technical details and construction documentation.
- Work across a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential and mixed-use developments.
- Contribute to design development while maintaining a practical, delivery-focused approach.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme deadlines and quality standards.
About You
This opportunity would suit either an Architect or Architectural Technologist with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering high-quality projects. To be considered, you'll ideally have:
- ARB registration as an Architect or significant experience as an Architectural Technologist (MCIAT desirable).
- Excellent Revit proficiency.
- Strong technical detailing skills and a sound understanding of UK Building Regulations.
- Experience delivering projects through technical design and construction.
- Confidence coordinating drawing production and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Desirable Experience
- Design & Build project experience.
- Previous experience working with, or directly for, contractors.
- Modular or off-site construction experience.
- Experience mentoring junior team members or coordinating project teams.
