Conrad Consulting is working in partnership with a well-established architectural practice to recruit a Senior Heritage Consultant with a strong architectural background on an initial 6-12 month contract. This role offers the opportunity to lead on heritage matters across a diverse and exciting portfolio of projects.

Our client is seeking an experienced professional based in their Bristol studio. The successful Heritage Consultant will report to the regional Heritage Consultancy Lead and work closely with architects, planners, and clients to shape and guide the integration of heritage into design and planning processes. This is a key strategic role, focused on delivering bespoke, high-quality heritage advice, including the preparation of conservation management plans, significance assessments, capacity for change analysis, and heritage impact assessments.

Key Requirements:
  • A degree-level qualification in architecture, architectural history, building conservation, town planning, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant UK experience, with a focus on heritage planning or conservation architecture.
  • Experience working as a heritage lead within multi-disciplinary design teams, particularly on architecturally led projects.
  • Proven ability to liaise with stakeholders and statutory bodies.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Familiarity with RIBA Stages 0-3 and heritage integration within early-stage design.
  • Experience preparing fee proposals and bids.
  • Strong working knowledge of English heritage legislation, policy, and guidance.
  • Full IHBC membership or equivalent professional accreditation.

On offer for the successful candidate will be a salary of £40,000 - £47,000 dependent on experience, flexible and hybrid working arrangement (typically 4 days in office) and a generous company benefits package. To be noted that the position will be a fixed term contract for a period of 6-12 months with scope to look at the successful Heritage Consultant to turn permanent.
