A well-established Architecture practice based in the St Albans area is looking for a Senior Architect to take the lead on its residential layout and feasibility work. This opportunity comes with a clear route into the practice’s senior management structure for the right person! The role: You will lead the preparation, evaluation and optimisation of residential layouts and development feasibility studies, from small infill parcels to major masterplanning schemes for large-scale developments across Hertfordshire and the South of England. Responsibilities include: Produce residential layouts from scratch alongside feasibility studies that maximise development potential and add real value to the land Review and challenge existing schemes so the final design is cost-effective, imaginative and deliverable Assess site constraints, planning policy and development potential at the earliest stage Work closely with planning consultants and technical specialists to produce quick, thoughtful and commercially aware designs at every stage of the process Drive schemes towards well-designed, successful planning applications Build strong relationships with developer and landowner clients, using a sound understanding of the property development process Take on increasing leadership responsibility as your role grows within the practice About you: ARB-registered Architect with 7-10+ years’ experience, predominantly in the residential sector A proven track record in residential feasibility, layout planning and space optimisation, from infill sites to masterplans Demonstrable experience working alongside House Developer clients A strong and robust knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy and the planning application process A good grasp of residential design standards and the commercial drivers behind a development Confident assessing existing schemes, with the judgement to improve them rather than simply redraw them Comfortable collaborating with technical and planning specialists, and with the empathy to build lasting client relationships Ambition to progress into a senior management position What’s on offer: Salary of up to £55,000, depending on experience A genuine career path into the senior management structure of an established practice Varied residential work, from small scale projects through to large-scale masterplans A stable, long-standing practice with a collaborative team of Architects and Technicians A competitive benefits package How to apply: For a confidential conversation about this opportunity, or to apply, please contact Joey Waller at Conrad Consulting on (phone number removed) or email
