A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented and ambitious Senior Architect to join a practice where your ideas, leadership and expertise will genuinely matter.
The Practice
Few practices can match this one for breadth, reputation and track record. With more than 150 people, a well-earned place in the AJ100 and a string of awards to their name, this is a business that has built its success on delivering exceptional architecture across Retail, Residential, Leisure, Hospitality, Commercial and Distribution sectors — at every scale, the length and breadth of the UK. Behind that success sits an impressive roster of national developers, main contractors and clients who keep coming back for more. The Milton Keynes studio is where this Senior Architect opportunity sits — a vibrant, talented team with a strong pipeline of work and plenty of ambition to match.
The Role
At the heart of this Senior Architect position is the chance to take creative and technical ownership of a major national development programme for one of the practice's most valued clients, whilst also contributing to a wider portfolio of commercial work. From early concept through to securing Planning Permission, you’ll be the driving force behind the design process — shaping projects, guiding your team and keeping clients confident every step of the way.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing design leadership to an established team, fostering collaboration across all external disciplines
- Taking full ownership of project development from concept through to Planning Permission (RIBA Stages 1–3)
- Overseeing the flow of design information across internal teams and external consultants, mentoring and supporting colleagues to deliver their best work
- Serving as the client’s trusted point of contact on all design matters, ensuring they always have what they need to make informed decisions
- Keeping all design information current, coordinated and issued in a timely manner throughout the project
What They’re Looking For
The ideal Senior Architect will be ARB or RIBA registered with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience — someone who brings both design flair and technical rigour to everything they do. Beyond that, you’ll need:
- Advanced AutoCAD ability — this is a must
- A thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations, planning policy and current legislation
- The confidence to lead independently, and the collaborative instinct to thrive within a multi-disciplinary setting
- A full UK driving licence is preferred, as the role involves travel across the Midlands and South-East
What You’ll Get
As a Senior Architect here, you can expect a salary and benefits package built around your skills and experience, a stimulating workload that spans a high-profile national portfolio and varied commercial schemes as well as a workplace culture that values and invests in the people within it. Professional development isn’t an afterthought here — it’s part of the deal.
