A leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking a Head of Health & Safety to drive and lead HSEQ strategy across a diverse portfolio of major projects. This is a pivotal leadership role offering the opportunity to shape safety culture at a business-critical level, working closely with senior leadership and operational teams to deliver best-in-class health, safety and wellbeing performance. You’ll play a key role in influencing behaviour, embedding a proactive safety culture, and ensuring the highest standards are consistently achieved across all operations.
As Head of Health & Safety, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of the company-wide HSEQ strategy
- Provide expert guidance to senior leadership and project teams
- Drive a positive, proactive safety culture across all sites
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards
- Oversee audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead incident investigations and ensure effective corrective actions
- Manage and develop the H&S team across multiple projects
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
- Monitor performance metrics and report at board level
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in a senior H&S leadership role within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of major project environments (e.g. highways, rail, energy, utilities)
- Demonstrable experience driving cultural change and behavioural safety
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) essential
- Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards) preferred
