A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Director, Civil Engineering to join our client, a leading global consultancy delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
This is a senior technical leadership position offering the chance to influence major, complex projects while helping shape the future direction of a national civil engineering practice. The role spans a broad portfolio, including land development and infrastructure, with opportunities across sectors such as energy, defence and water.
The successful candidate will act as a recognised technical authority, providing strategic leadership across multidisciplinary projects, advising clients and senior stakeholders, and driving technical excellence, innovation and best practice. Responsibilities will also include supporting bids and business development, strengthening client relationships, developing engineering capability and mentoring future leaders.
Candidates should be Chartered Civil Engineers with a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent and extensive experience in senior technical and leadership roles. Strong expertise across drainage, utilities, pavements, earthworks, access and construction logistics is essential, together with a detailed knowledge of relevant design standards and CDM requirements.
Commercial awareness and a proven ability to contribute to winning proposals and business growth are important, alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience within the energy or defence sectors would be advantageous.
The position involves UK-wide travel, with a hybrid arrangement combining office/project attendance and travel, typically around three days per week. Additional travel may be required to locations across the UK.
