We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a growing civil engineering and construction business, supporting the safe delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety Advisor looking to develop their career within a well-established contractor that places safety, quality, and continuous improvement at the heart of everything it does.
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will work closely with project teams to promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, and support the successful implementation of ISO 45001 management systems across multiple sites.
The Role
- Providing day-to-day health and safety advice and guidance to site management teams.
- Promoting a proactive and positive health and safety culture across all projects.
- Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, company procedures, and client requirements.
- Carrying out regular site inspections and audits to monitor standards and identify improvements.
- Supporting supervisors with the completion of risk assessments, inspections, briefings, and other safety documentation.
- Delivering toolbox talks and health, safety and wellbeing briefings.
- Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Reviewing RAMS, method statements, and other project documentation to ensure compliance.
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of the ISO 45001 Safety Management System.
- Attending and leading safety meetings where required.
- Producing reports and monitoring key health and safety performance indicators.
- Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and operational teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within construction or civil engineering.
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Membership of IOSH, IIRSM or another recognised professional body.
- Knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 management systems.
- Previous experience supporting large infrastructure or utilities projects.
