A leading AJ100 architectural practice with studios across the UK is seeking a talented Senior Architect to join its Birmingham team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious architect with strong residential experience to take on a senior role within a respected, design‑focused environment.
The practice is known for delivering high‑quality, commercially aware architecture across residential, commercial, education and mixed‑use sectors. Their Birmingham studio continues to grow, and they are now looking for a Senior Architect who can bring technical expertise, sector knowledge and confident project leadership to the team.
The Role
As a Senior Architect, you will play a key role in leading projects from concept through to delivery, working closely with clients, consultants and internal teams. You will take responsibility for design quality, technical coordination and project management across a range of residential-led developments. This role is particularly well suited to someone with experience in large‑scale residential schemes, including volume housebuilder projects, regeneration sites or multi‑plot masterplans.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead residential projects through all RIBA stages
- Manage client relationships and represent the practice at meetings
- Oversee design development, technical coordination and project delivery
- Mentor and support junior team members
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications and planning packages
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with planning policy, building regulations and best practice
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Birmingham studio
About You
- Qualified Architect with 5+ years post‑qualification experience
- Strong background in residential architecture
- Experience working on large‑scale housing or housebuilder projects
- Confident leading projects and managing client relationships
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of UK building regulations
- Proficient in relevant design and BIM software (Revit and/or Archicad preferred)
- Collaborative, proactive and able to work independently when required
