An exciting vacancy for a Welding and Quality Manager is now available at our manufacturing operations in Alton, Hampshire.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Welding and Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, including welding, across all product lines produced by our own manufacturing and outsourced facilities. This role reports directly to the Supply Chain Director.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all welding meets the highest standards by maintaining a comprehensive welding quality program.
  • Maintain qualifications to CSWIP level 3.0 or higher.
  • Proactively identify and resolve quality assurance issues.
  • Develop and oversee weld and material quality control processes and execute quality assurance testing methods.
  • Oversee welder qualification and coding in accordance with EN 287–1 and EN 1090 standards.
  • Manage physical load testing of products, prototypes, and R&D projects, including methodology, execution, and record-keeping.
  • Lead quality system improvements through internal audits and testing, establishing metrics to monitor system effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of quality and first-time right production by inspecting in-house and subcontracted products regularly.
  • Collaborate with procurement to foster quality standards with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Mentor and coach fabrication trainees and apprentices as needed.
  • Find pragmatic solutions to meet the company's financial objectives.
