Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum

Location: Alton, Hampshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm

The Role

We are looking for a confident and driven Internal Business Development Manager to support our external sales team by generating new opportunities and strengthening relationships with key clients. This role focuses on identifying new contacts within existing accounts, researching new companies and projects, and arranging meetings for our Area Sales Managers (ASM). Confidence, persistence, and strong communication skills are essential. You will play a key role in expanding Conquip’s presence across relevant construction projects, helping ensure our solutions are considered early in project planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Appointment Setting
    • Identify and research new contacts within existing client organisations using tools such as LinkedIn and Lusha.
    • Contact prospective clients and arrange meetings for the Area Sales Managers (ASM).
    • Engage with previously untapped contacts within key contractor organisations.
    • Focus outreach on high-value opportunities within priority contractor networks.
  • Project Tracking & Market Research
    • Track upcoming projects, planning applications, and construction developments.
    • Identify opportunities where Conquip products or solutions may be relevant.
    • Pass project intelligence to Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and ASMs when contracts are awarded to main contractors.
  • CRM & Data Management
    • Maintain accurate records by adding new contacts and company details to the CRM system.
    • Keep client and project information up to date to support sales activity.
  • Prospect Identification
    • Research new companies and potential customers within relevant sectors.
    • Conduct initial credit checks where required and share findings with ASM/RSM during monthly sales meetings.
  • Marketing Collaboration
    • Support marketing outreach campaigns by assisting with contact research and targeted prospect engagement.

  • Good planning and organisational ability
  • Methodical and accurate approach to research and data entry
  • Ability to communicate professionally with contacts at all levels, from site personnel to senior directors and CEOs
