At Connolly, we’re driven by strong values and a genuine commitment to improving homes and communities. If you care about doing the right thing, enjoy working with people, and want a role where every day makes an impact - this could be the perfect next step for you.

About Us

Connolly is a family-run construction, refurbishment and development company working within the social housing sector across the North West, North Wales and West Yorkshire. We’re here to create safe, sustainable homes and stronger communities — and we’re proud of the positive legacy we leave behind. Our long-term ambition is simple: to become the most respected social housing specialist in the North of England.

The Role

Reporting to our SHEQ Manager, you’ll play a key part in promoting a strong safety culture, supporting our people, and ensuring our projects meet the highest standards. You’ll work closely with site teams, managers, and contractors to keep everyone safe, protect the environment, and continuously improve our performance. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be out on sites, building relationships, solving problems, and helping others to work safely and confidently.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Champion a positive, proactive culture around Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Compliance
  • Make sure all projects follow UK Health & Safety laws, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), SSIP and Connolly’s policies
  • Prepare and maintain Construction Phase Plans and safety documents for new sites
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments
  • Lead and support investigations into accidents, incidents and near-misses
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings and SHEQ training to staff and subcontractors
  • Support the ongoing improvement of our Quality Management System
  • Gather and report accident/incident data, working with teams to put corrective actions in place
  • Carry out company Health & Safety inductions for new starters
  • Monitor environmental performance including waste, permits and sustainability requirements
  • Keep all SHEQ records, documents and reports up to date
  • Manage SHEQ databases and provide reports for the SHEQ Manager
  • Complete annual reassessments for SSIP accreditations (ConstructionLine, CHAS, SafeContractor)
  • Support Bid and Pre-Construction teams with SHEQ input for tenders
  • Identify new ways to improve safety performance and promote best practice
  • Build strong, positive relationships with colleagues, clients and partners
  • Role-model Connolly’s values and help make our business a great place to work

About You

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, confident, and passionate about creating safe, high-quality working environments. You’ll need:

  • Minimum NEBOSH Certificate
  • Ideally IOSH membership and an environmental qualification (IEMA or similar)
  • Experience in social housing (desirable, not essential)
  • Ability to carry out safety audits and review accident statistics
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A hands-on, practical approach to SHEQ
