Support Officer - Training in Hereford

The vacancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Younger Persons Training and Engagement Support Officer to join our team at our Younger Persons Service in Hereford. The role involves working with young people in our accommodation-based service across a 7‑day rota (shifts 9am‑5pm, 11am‑7pm, 2pm‑10pm) to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people aged 16‑25.

A big part of this role is around training and engagement, so you should be able to build good working relationships with our young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and supportive environment for young people aged 16‑25 across a 7‑day rota.
• Deliver training and engagement activities that keep young people involved and motivated.
• Handle crisis situations, liaising with other professionals and signposting to external agencies when needed.
• Update and record information promptly and accurately.
• Work within the Young Persons Service team to maintain a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to engage young people and build trust.
• Calm and confident in crisis situations; experience in crisis or emergency response is an advantage.
• Good organisational skills – able to maintain accurate records and manage shift handovers.
• Experience working with young people aged 16‑25, or similar, is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS check will be required.
