We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Specification Manager to lead specification growth and commercial development within the specialist coatings and fire protection sector across the UK and Ireland. This role combines technical expertise, solution-based selling, and strategic market influence. You will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and asset owners to ensure fire protection coating systems are correctly specified, compliant, and commercially positioned for success.
You will act as a trusted technical advisor from project concept through to completion, delivering training, CPDs, and on-site support while developing strong market relationships and converting specifications into commercial wins.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and convert a pipeline of specification opportunities across coatings including fire protection systems
- Produce accurate and compliant technical specifications aligned with industry standards and legislation
- Build strategic relationships with key influencers such as architects, consultants, contractors and specifiers
- Deliver CPD sessions, technical presentations, demonstrations and training
- Provide on-site technical guidance, troubleshooting and advice
- Work collaboratively with internal sales and technical teams to convert specifications into secured orders
- Maintain accurate CRM data and provide reporting on performance, KPIs and pipeline forecasting
- Attend industry events, exhibitions and forums as a technical brand ambassador
- Monitor market trends, innovation, competitor activity and emerging opportunities
- Identify and drive improvements to processes, customer experience and commercial outcomes
- Essential
- Minimum 5 years experience in technical sales, specification sales, coatings, construction or building materials
- Strong technical knowledge of coatings, fire protection systems and relevant regulation
- Proven track record of winning and managing high value specification projects
- Confident presenting technical content to diverse audiences
- Advanced communication, negotiation and commercial influencing skills
- Full UK or Irish driving licence and willingness to travel
- Competent in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office
- Desirable
- Knowledge of EN fire standards, BIM, CAD or digital specification systems
- Relevant qualification in sales, business, marketing or technical discipline
- Existing industry network across architects, contractors or distribution partners
- Experience delivering accredited CPD sessions
