Location: Farringdon, London (requires weekly team meetings at our Twickenham office (TW1 3RP)). This is a hybrid role, requiring regular office attendance.
About Us: Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is one of the UK's leading providers of affordable housing and care and support services. We employ over 1,900 people to manage and develop our large portfolio of nearly 56,000 homes serving over 75,000 customers across London, the East Midlands, Southern and the East of England.
Role Overview: The Senior VDI Engineer will be the primary VDI technical lead, administering the dayâtoâday operations of the current Citrix infrastructure and any future VDI technologies. They will work with the Architecture, Service Delivery, and Service Desk teams, and the wider Technology Department to support and administer the full lifecycle of VDI infrastructure operations, services, projects and initiatives. Responsibilities include managing the VDI Work Plan and delivery of the VDI Annual Continuous Service Improvement Plan.
We have approximately 2,400 users, 350 applications, 450 onâprem servers (on VMware), and 1,800 laptops. We also deliver remote access to network services via Citrix virtual desktops from legacy and new systems for up to 450 licensed users. MTVH currently operates its technology services across three main AD domains. A project is in flight to migrate required applications, data, systems and hardware assets to the MTVH AD domain.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Experienced enterprise Citrix SME and engineer, comfortable being the highest point of escalation for Citrix issues in a highâuptime and changeâcontrolled environment.
- Operational role primarily focused on managing, maintaining, supporting, and continuously improving the existing Citrix environment.
- Engineeringâlevel background in Citrix and VDI roles.
- Strong experience with Citrix technology stack comprising a new Citrix DaaS with two legacy CVAD environments, VMwareâbased onâprem hosting transitioning to XenServer, ShareFile, and dedicated storage infrastructure on PureStorage arrays.
- Selfâsufficient and resourceful troubleshooting abilities covering server, virtualization, storage, and networking technologies that support Citrix/VDI for comprehensive problem resolution.
- Ability to collaborate well with other SME teams responsible for other areas of the infrastructure.
The nature of this role means that the post holder may come in contact with vulnerable adults. To meet our commitment to providing safe, highâquality services to our customers, we will complete a Basic check with the Disclosure and Barring Service once an offer of employment is made. A new check will be completed every three years.
