Our client, a leading digital business in the medical cannabis sector is seeking a versatile and technically skilled Web Developer to join its growing team. Role Overview
The Developer will work closely with cross-functional teams across marketing, product, and operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work-whether that's building scalable features, refining user interfaces, solving performance issues, or providing technical support to non-technical teams. Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Development: Build, maintain, and enhance websites and web applications primarily using WordPress and Laravel
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with design, content, product, and marketing teams to turn ideas into robust technical solutions
- Bug Fixing & Troubleshooting: Take ownership of identifying and resolving technical issues quickly and efficiently
- Performance & UX Optimization: Improve speed, accessibility, and overall user experience across digital properties
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on tech support and guidance to internal teams, enabling them to do their best work
- Tooling & Automation: Help streamline internal workflows through the introduction of automation and new tooling
- Process Improvement: Stay current on development best practices and suggest new frameworks, plugins, or approaches that improve code quality and efficiency
- Documentation & Version Control: Use Git and follow coding standards to maintain a clean, collaborative development environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience in a web development role
- Proficient with WordPress (PHP) development, including custom themes and plugins
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Familiarity with Git for version control and collaboration
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills-particularly when working with non-technical colleagues
- Experience with Laravel
- Experience with eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce)
