Job Description
Our client, a specialist in secure communications and satellite network solutions, is looking for a Network Engineer to join their growing team in Redhill. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and proactive engineer to work across both internal and external network infrastructure, supporting critical services including defence, maritime, and government systems.
This role offers the chance to be part of a high-performing engineering function, responsible for the design, build, and through-life support of complex network environments.
Responsibilities:Design, build, test and maintain secure internal and customer networksAct as the final escalation point for complex network issuesProvide technical guidance to internal teams across engineering and ITMaintain high levels of network integrity, resilience and documentationConfigure and troubleshoot technologies including Fortinet, Cisco, IPSEC, VPN, VOIP QoSParticipate in out-of-hours support rota and contribute to planned maintenanceCollaborate closely with IT, MOD engineering, and maritime systems teamsProvide training and documentation to support knowledge sharing and internal upskillingEnsure compliance with best practice security standards across all networks
What we're ideally looking for:A minimum of 5 years' hands-on network design and support experience
Strong knowledge of:Fortinet FortiGate (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer)Cisco Routers and Switches (29xx, 83xx, 4xxx, IOS-XE)IPSEC, VPN, BGP, OSPF, IP SLA, VOIP QoSCertification such as FCSS/FCP and/or CCNA/CCNP or equivalentConfident communicator with excellent customer support skillsA can-do attitude, proactive approach and high attention to detailAbility to achieve or already hold DV Security ClearanceGood working knowledge of Linux, and desirable skills in MPLS, 802.1x, Python or Docker
