The client is a leading global provider of Satellite Communications and IT Support services to the Government, Maritime, and Defence sectors. With over 55 years of technical expertise and an international footprint, they deliver advanced communications solutions for mission-critical maritime and offshore projects. As part of their expanding operations, they are now seeking a CAD Design Engineer to join their team based in Redhill.
Main Purpose Of The Role
- Produce detailed design documentation and technical drawings to support complex maritime and defence installation projects.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the full design and project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Create technical 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Translate engineering concepts, project specifications, and customer requirements into accurate and practical designs.
- Prepare Equipment Guidance Packages (EGP), Installation Guidance Packages (IGP), and Modification Leaflets.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify and resolve design issues, ensuring solutions are safe, effective, and buildable.
- Provide technical support to project teams during installations, modifications, and system upgrades.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders, explaining technical design elements and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain accurate design records, drawings, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
What They Are Looking For
- Proven experience as a CAD Design Engineer, ideally within maritime, civil, construction, defence, or related engineering sectors.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other industry-standard CAD software.
- Sound technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or structural design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communicator able to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience producing EGPs, IGPs, or similar documentation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of maritime, naval, or offshore systems would be an advantage.
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/ONC/NVQ or equivalent).
