About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a positive impact on students’ education while gaining valuable experience in a school environment. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes when teachers are absent, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes across all key stages (KS3 and KS4) in the absence of subject teachers
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students remain on task
  • Maintain classroom discipline and promote positive behaviour
  • Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate
  • Take accurate registers and report any concerns to relevant staff
  • Assist with general school duties as required
  • Follow school policies and procedures at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage with young people aged 11-16
  • Confident classroom presence and behaviour management skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subjects
  • Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
