How to prepare for a job interview at Connex - Tutors
✨Know Your SEN Stuff
Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Be ready to discuss specific strategies you've used in the past to support students with these needs. This shows that you’re not just familiar with the terms but have practical experience.
✨Showcase Your Empathy
During the interview, highlight your ability to build rapport with students. Share examples of how you've motivated students who may struggle with engagement. This is crucial for a role like this, where emotional support is just as important as academic progress.
✨Prepare for Scenario Questions
Expect questions that ask how you would handle specific situations, such as a student becoming upset during a lesson. Think through your responses ahead of time, focusing on your patience and adaptability. This will demonstrate your problem-solving skills and your commitment to creating a supportive learning environment.
✨Engage with the Interviewers
Don’t forget that interviews are a two-way street! Prepare thoughtful questions about their approach to tutoring and how they support their tutors. This not only shows your interest in the role but also helps you gauge if it’s the right fit for you.
