Role: Youth Mentor / Support Assistant (SEMH School) Location: Wolverhampton Rate of Pay: £1,708.80 – £1,993.60 per month About the Role Connex Education is currently recruiting for a resilient and committed Youth Mentor / Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Wolverhampton. This role involves supporting secondary-aged students who present with behavioural challenges. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, manage their emotions, and develop positive behaviours both inside and outside the classroom. The successful candidate will: Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their development Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation Work closely with teaching staff to create a safe and structured learning environment Act as a positive role model and mentor to encourage engagement and progress About the School The school is a supportive and inclusive SEMH setting dedicated to helping young people overcome barriers to learning. Staff work collaboratively to provide consistency, structure, and care, ensuring each student has the opportunity to succeed both academically and personally. Who We’re Looking For Applicants must: Be available to work full-time Be available for employment in September as the school are looking for indivuals who can commit to students next academic year (rollover) Have prior experience working with individuals with SEMH needs We welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including: Youth Mentoring Education and Support Work Prison or Custodial Services Community Support or Outreach Roles Your experience working with challenging behaviour and your ability to build positive relationships will be key to success in this role.
