About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to work on a full-time basis supporting a Key Stage 1 pupil on a 1:1 basis. This rewarding role involves providing personalised support throughout the school day, helping the pupil access learning, develop independence, and participate fully in classroom activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the pupil with personal care needs in a respectful and dignified manner. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team, you will contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning experience tailored to the child’s individual needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist pupils with toileting, continence care, and personal hygiene.
- Support with dressing, changing for PE, and maintaining personal cleanliness.
- Assist with eating and drinking where required.
- Follow individual care plans and medical procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience supporting children with additional needs, either in education, care, or healthcare settings.
- Is comfortable providing personal care support.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
