About the Role
Connex Education are working with a specialist school in Wigan, who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join them on a full time basis. This role will be starting early 2026.
About the School
Providing education and emotional support to students aged 4 – 11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, the school have specialist staff onsite who have excellent behaviour management skills and de-escalation techniques. Children are cared for to exceptional standards, ensuring trusting relationships are formed and maintained with students. They have excellent facilities onsite including a well-being hub and rooms for counselling. Staff here work together as a team, ensuring all needs are met whether they be emotional, social or academic.
Assignment Details
The successful applicant will be able to work Monday – Friday and be available to commit to the school until Easter at least. Working hours are 8.30am until 3.30pm.

Person Specification
- Have experience of working in a school and have experience or a strong interest in working with students with SEND / SEMH
- Be resilient and dedicated to making a difference to students with SEMH needs
- Be a team player – able to work with staff and use initiative in challenging situations
- Have confidence or experience liaising with healthcare professionals and parents / carers
- A Team Teach Qualification would be advantageous when applying for this role, yet not a necessity.
- Have a full enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for a new one
