We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join a resource base in West Bromwich. This is a full-time position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.
Working closely with the class teachers and SENCO, you will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An understanding of autism and/or complex needs (desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) are advantageous but not essential
