Salary: £95.83 per day – Pay review at 12 weeks

Assignment Details:

  • Part-time role, Thursday, Friday and every other Wednesday (Term time only)
  • Working hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM – 1 hour lunch break
  • Long-term role

Supporting Year 4 pupils with SEND, working 1:1 and in small groups within a mainstream classroom.

About the Role:

Connex Education is working in partnership with a large, inclusive mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support Year 4 pupils with diverse SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This position begins ASAP. You will play a vital role in supporting engagement, emotional regulation, communication skills, and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to help pupils access the curriculum at an appropriate level.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to reinforce learning, deliver interventions, and build independence.
  • Adapt resources and learning tasks using visuals, simplified language, modelling and scaffolding.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Implement strategies and recommendations from SEN professionals, including Speech & Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
  • Use communication aids, prompts, visual schedules or alternative communication tools where needed.
  • Support life skills, social development and preparation for secondary school.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver support aligned with EHCP targets.
  • Provide regular feedback on progress, behaviour and support strategies.
  • Build positive working relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Person Specification:

  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy (GCSE English & Maths or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children (essential).
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable but not essential with willingness to learn).
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to uphold dignity and independence at all times.
  • A current DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex.
