About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting passionate and adaptable Secondary Supply Teachers for opportunities starting in September 2026. We are currently supporting a number of friendly and inclusive secondary schools in Taunton and the surrounding areas, with roles available on both a short-term and long-term basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic Secondary Supply Teachers looking to further their career within supportive school environments that value high-quality teaching, inclusion, and pupil achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons across a range of secondary subjects and year groups, in line with school planning.
  • Maintain continuity of learning by following lesson plans and adapting teaching where required to meet pupils' needs.
  • Adapt teaching and learning activities to support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Create a positive and purposeful learning environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and good behaviour.
  • Use effective classroom management, questioning, and differentiated activities to keep pupils engaged and on task.
  • Provide feedback to school staff where appropriate and support pupils' progress during your placement.
  • Build positive working relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to promote learning and wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, although strong secondary teaching experience will also be considered.
  • A flexible, confident, and engaging teaching style with the ability to adapt quickly to different school settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to deliver high-quality learning experiences across the secondary phase.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
