Connex Education is recruiting passionate and resilient SEND & SEMH teachers to work within specialist educational settings across Swindon. Roles range from day‑to‑day flexible supply to long‑term placements with full teaching responsibilities. These positions support children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, SLD, communication difficulties, behavioural needs and complex learning needs. Schools provide supportive and nurturing environments for pupils aged 4 to 19 who may struggle within mainstream education, offering emotional support, structured routines and tailored learning approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs both academically and emotionally
  • Create a structured, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Use creative and adaptable teaching approaches to encourage engagement and progress
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams, and parents/carers
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt support strategies where needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) preferred, although relevant SEND teaching experience will also be considered
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, SLD, or complex needs
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach to teaching
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
