About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting confident and adaptable specialist Cover Supervisors to work within an independent specialist school in Swindon from September 2026. We have opportunities available on a day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term basis, making this an ideal role for those seeking flexibility or looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching. The setting supports pupils aged approximately 11–16 years who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, additional learning needs, school refusal and barriers to mainstream education. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences while supporting pupils to remain engaged and focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
- Manage classroom behaviour positively and consistently
- Support students to engage with learning activities
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Promote a safe and structured learning environment
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
- Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people in education, coaching, youth work, young offenders or similar settings
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Confidence leading groups of students
- Calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
- Right to work in the UK
