Are you an experienced Makaton and PECS Specialist looking for a flexible, rewarding role where you can make a real difference on a 1:1 basis? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Home Tutor to support children and young people with communication and learning needs in the Sutton (Birmingham) area. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to provide personalised support outside of a traditional classroom setting.

The Role:

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 sessions to pupils using Makaton and PECS in a home environment
  • Support the development of communication, interaction, and functional learning skills
  • Adapt sessions to meet individual needs, abilities, and EHCP targets
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support engagement and progress
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals

Working Pattern:

  • Flexible hours to suit your availability
  • Availability required Monday to Thursday or Friday
  • Between 10–40 hours per week depending on your preference and student allocation

We’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN and communication needs
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Makaton and/or PECS
  • Background in teaching, tutoring, SEN support, speech and language support, or similar
  • A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised sessions that support communication development
