About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting Supply Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Alvaston, Allenton, Chellaston and the wider DE24 area.
The new academic year is now underway and we are continuing to see demand from local primary schools for reliable Teaching Assistants who can provide flexible classroom support.
Whether you’re looking for regular full-time work, a few days each week or flexible day-to-day supply, we have a range of opportunities available across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside class teachers to support pupils, encourage engagement and help create a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist teachers with lesson activities and classroom routines.
- Encourage positive behaviour and pupil engagement.
- Help pupils access learning and make progress.
- Support pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs where required.
Assignment Details
- Immediate and ongoing work available.
- Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities.
- Day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term placements.
- Work across Alvaston, Allenton, Chellaston and the wider DE24 area.
- Opportunities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Person Specification
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Recent experience supporting children in a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.
- Confidence supporting pupils individually and in small groups.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, professional approach.
- A reliable and flexible attitude with the ability to adapt to different school environments.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
All roles are subject to satisfactory background checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
