About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting Supply Teaching Assistants to support primary schools across Alvaston, Allenton, Chellaston and the wider DE24 area from September 2026.
With the new academic year fast approaching, schools are finalising their staffing and preparing for September. Now is the ideal time to complete your registration and be ready for flexible work from the very start of term.
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you’ll support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, working alongside teachers to create positive learning environments, build confidence and help pupils achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson activities and daily classroom routines.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
- Help pupils access learning and make progress.
- Support pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs where required.
Assignment Details
- Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities available.
- Day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term placements.
- Work available across Alvaston, Allenton, Chellaston and the wider DE24 area.
- Opportunities across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Person Specification
We’re looking for candidates who have:
- Recent experience supporting children in a UK primary school or a similar educational setting.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.
- Confidence supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, patient approach.
- A reliable, flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to different school environments.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
All roles are subject to satisfactory background checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
