About the Role
Connex Education is looking for Supply Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Derby City Centre, Little Chester, Litchurch and the wider DE1 area from September 2026.
The summer holidays are a great opportunity to get registered and ready for the new academic year, with flexible supply opportunities available across local primary schools.
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
You could be supporting whole-class activities, working with small groups or providing one-to-one support to help pupils build confidence and make progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, resources and daily routines.
- Encourage positive behaviour, participation and engagement.
- Help pupils access learning and develop their confidence.
- Support children with additional learning or behavioural needs where required.
- Assignment Details
- Flexible full-time and part-time work available.
- Day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term placements.
- Opportunities across Derby City Centre, Little Chester, Litchurch and the wider DE1 area.

Person Specification
Weβre looking for candidates who have
- Recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.
- Confidence supporting pupils individually and in small groups.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, patient approach.
- A reliable and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to different schools and classrooms.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
All roles are subject to satisfactory background checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
