About the Role

Connex Education are currently recruiting experienced and enthusiastic Level 2 or 3 Qualified Teaching Assistants to work within a variety of welcoming primary schools across Somerset. We have flexible opportunities available on a day-to-day supply basis, alongside short-term and long-term placements starting from September 2026.

As a Level 2 / 3 Qualified Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. You will help pupils access the curriculum, deliver targeted interventions, and contribute to a safe, engaging and inclusive classroom environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Working with pupils individually and in small groups
  • Delivering intervention sessions in literacy and numeracy
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour and pupil engagement
  • Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Hold a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Have experience working within a UK primary school setting
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are confident supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and classroom expectations
  • Have knowledge of Phonics and Read Write Inc.
  • Hold a DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
