About the role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting children with a variety of additional needs, ensuring they can access learning and reach their full potential. You will provide both one-to-one and small group support, tailoring your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil (non-verbal, ASD and PMLD). A big part of the role will also be encouraging independence and developing social skills, helping pupils to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Role Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting is essential
- A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
- Strong communication skills, both with pupils and staff
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education, is required)
