The Role

We are seeking an experienced SEN English Tutor to join our growing home tuition team. You will provide personalised one-to-one English tuition for pupils in the Harborne area who may present with SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges, EHCPs, and additional learning needs. The role focuses on building confidence in English, improving literacy skills, and supporting pupils to re-engage with learning through creative, nurturing, and tailored teaching approaches.

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday availability
  • Minimum 2 hours per day per pupil (additional hours available)
  • Opportunities across Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Harborne, Wolverhampton, and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one English tuition tailored to individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Plan and adapt lessons to support literacy, reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, and written communication
  • Use creative and differentiated teaching strategies to support pupils with SEN
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and families
  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, and engagement with learning
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents and professionals
  • Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Teaching or tutoring experience (QTS or non-QTS) is essential
  • Experience supporting learners with SEN, SEMH, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or additional needs
  • Strong understanding of English curriculum and literacy development
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
  • Experience working in schools, alternative provisions, or home tuition settings is desirable
  • Driving preferred but not essential
