About the Role
Connex Education Partnership is looking for Primary Teachers to support specialist SEND settings and provisions across South Gloucestershire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working with children who may have found traditional education challenging and who benefits from a smaller, more personalised learning environment.
You may work across a range of specialist primary settings, delivering engaging lessons while helping pupils develop their confidence, independence, social skills and readiness to learn.
The Pupils
You may support primary-aged pupils who experience:
SEMH | Emotional regulation difficulties | Anxiety | Trauma and attachment needs | Autism / ASC | ADHD | Behavioural needs | Communication difficulties | Complex SEND
Some pupils may have experienced disrupted education or difficult life experiences and require additional support with relationships, routines, emotional regulation and engagement.
Your Role
Depending on the length and expectations of the role, you may:
- Plan and deliver engaging primary lessons
- Adapt learning to individual needs and abilities
- Create a structured and supportive classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with pupils
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Use appropriate de-escalation and restorative approaches
- Encourage confidence, independence and participation
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching accordingly
- Work alongside Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
- Follow individual learning and support plans
What We’re Looking For
- QTS is essential
- Primary teaching experience
- Experience with SEND or SEMH is desirable
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A flexible approach to teaching and learning
- Confidence supporting pupils who may become distressed or dysregulated
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Experience in specialist education, alternative provision, nurture settings or pastoral roles would be advantageous, but is not essential.
