About the Role

Connex Education are recruiting for a passionate and creative Art and Design Teacher to join a secondary school in Newark. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to inspire pupils through engaging and creative Art and Design lessons, while supporting them to develop their artistic skills, confidence and understanding of the subject. The successful candidate will be confident delivering the Art and Design curriculum across the secondary age range, creating engaging lessons that encourage creativity, experimentation and independent thinking. You will be able to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of individual pupils and create a positive classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and develop their skills. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress and contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging and creative Art and Design lessons across the secondary age range.
• Developing pupils' practical, creative and technical skills across a range of artistic disciplines and media.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
• Differentiating learning activities and teaching approaches to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities and learning needs.
• Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress in line with school expectations.
• Providing constructive feedback to help pupils develop their artistic skills, knowledge and confidence.
• Preparing high-quality learning resources and maintaining an organised and inspiring learning environment.
• Encouraging pupils to experiment, explore ideas and develop their own creative approaches.
• Managing classroom behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and colleagues to support learning, engagement and wellbeing.
• Working collaboratively with other members of the department and wider school staff.
• Attending staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities as required.
• Completing planning, preparation and assessment in line with school expectations.

Person Specification

To be considered for this role candidates must have / be able to demonstrate:

• Holding Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) proven by providing your Teacher Reference Number
• Experience of working as a teacher in a British curriculum school for a minimum of two terms since obtaining QTS.
• Full enhanced DBS certificate
• Completion of the Connex Education Onboarding Process
• The ability to show a genuine desire and passion for working as a teacher.
• A minimum of 2 school based references
