Assistant to the SENDCo and Inclusion Mentor

35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 training days

Salary: In line with the appropriate pay scale

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced and compassionate professional to join our Inclusion Team as Assistant to the SENDCo and Inclusion Mentor. Our successful community primary school serves over 460 pupils aged 3–11, including a nursery provision. We are committed to ensuring that every child receives the support, care and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion/SENDCo), you will play a key role in supporting the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to ensure high-quality inclusive practice across the school. The role will involve:

  • Supporting SEND provision
  • Coordinating and delivering interventions
  • Monitoring pupil progress
  • Contributing to EHCP and review processes
  • Working with parents and external agencies
  • Providing mentoring and therapeutic support for pupils with additional social, emotional and mental health needs

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has significant experience working with children with SEND across a range of needs
  • Has experience supporting SEND provision within a school setting
  • Has strong knowledge of SEND processes, interventions and inclusive classroom practice
  • Has experience of mentoring pupils and supporting those with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Can work effectively with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals
  • Is highly organised, proactive and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
