School Office Administrator (Maternity Cover)

Location: Wythenshawe, Manchester

Contract: Fixed Term β€” ASAP start until May 2027 (maternity leave cover)

Hours: Full-time, term-time

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and reliable School Office Administrator to join our busy secondary school office team in Wythenshawe. This is a fixed-term position covering a period of maternity leave, starting as soon as possible and running until May 2027.

You will be the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a welcoming and professional front-of-house service, including greeting visitors and answering the main school telephone
  • Managing student attendance records and liaising with parents/carers regarding absences
  • Handling general administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and correspondence
  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff with administrative tasks
  • Processing incoming and outgoing post, emails, and enquiries
  • Maintaining accurate student and staff records in line with GDPR and safeguarding procedures
  • Assisting with school events, trips, and meetings as required
  • Handling minor first aid/welfare queries and liaising with parents when necessary (training provided if required)

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an office administration role (school/education setting desirable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office (SIMS or similar MIS experience desirable)
  • A calm, professional manner when dealing with students, staff, and parents
  • A flexible, can-do attitude and ability to work well as part of a team

Requirements

  • An enhanced DBS check will be required (or willingness to obtain one) as part of our safeguarding commitments
  • Right to work in the UK

Successful candidates will be required to conduct an interview and complete a vetting process which includes an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS, if you do not have one, you can get one through Connex Education.
