Connex Education is supporting a number of mainstream secondary schools across Leeds in their search for a dedicated and enthusiastic Female PE Teacher to join their teams from September. We are seeking a qualified Female PE Teacher who can deliver engaging and inclusive Physical Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging participation, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards health and fitness. Please note: Due to the nature of this role and the requirement to supervise female pupils in changing room environments and deliver girls’ PE provision, this post is open to female applicants only. This is considered a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

About the Schools

We work in partnership with a number of welcoming and supportive secondary schools across Leeds that require a Female PE Teacher on a long-term basis. These opportunities may lead to permanent positions for the right candidate.

Assignment Details

This is a full‑time, long‑term position (32.5 hours per week, term time only) on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering high‑quality PE lessons
  • Assessing and monitoring pupil progress
  • Managing behaviour effectively
  • Attending departmental meetings and school events where required
  • Contributing to extracurricular sports activities where appropriate

Person Specification

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching Physical Education within a secondary school setting
  • Be confident delivering practical and theory‑based PE lessons
  • Hold a current DBS registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain a new DBS check
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Be committed to promoting participation and achievement for all students
