About the Role

Connex Education is currently recruiting for enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work across a specialist SEND setting supporting children and young people with a range of complex educational, medical and behavioural needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in highly supportive environments where the role of the Learning Support Assistant is central to helping pupils access a personalised curriculum and achieve their individual outcomes outlined in their EHCPs.

We are looking for individuals who are nurturing, energetic, empathetic and confident in applying a variety of behaviour support strategies to help pupils engage positively in learning and daily school life. We offer flexible supply opportunities, short-term and longer-term placements depending on your availability and preference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with complex learning, medical, and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored and differentiated learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and EHCP targets
  • Use appropriate behaviour management strategies to support engagement and wellbeing
  • Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
  • Provide consistent emotional and pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or complex needs is highly desirable
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations positively
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
