Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming SEN school in Knowle, Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEMH.

The Role:

  • You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with autism.
  • Working within a supportive and experienced team, you will create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes learning, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, personalised lessons in line with EHCP targets.
  • Support pupils with a range of communication and sensory needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies effectively and consistently.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and other professionals.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent/experience.
  • Experience working with children with autism and additional needs.
  • A patient, empathetic and flexible approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of strategies such as PECS, Makaton or TEACCH (desirable).
