About the Role

We are currently recruiting a full-time Family Support Practitioner for September 2026 to support an excellent Primary School located in Prescot, Knowsley. We are seeking someone who is experienced in a similar pastoral role, who has a passion for helping children and families thrive. The successful candidate will work closely with families, staff and external agencies to build positive relationships, remove barriers to learning and support children to engage fully in school life. Through encouragement, guidance and practical support, you will help empower students and their families, ensuring every child feels confident, valued and ready to learn, progress and prepare for their future.

Person Specification

  • Level 2/3 NVQ qualification; desirable to be qualified to degree level, however those with relevant and recent similar experience will also be considered.
  • GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above for both) or equivalent Level 2.
  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new one through Connex.
  • Strong written and spoken English, excellent communication.
  • Ability to use IT effectively.
  • Knowledge of recent policies, codes of practice and legislation.
  • Safeguarding experience with children, families, and schools.

Job Purpose

  • To support the Headteacher, Senior Leaders and Learning Mentor in building relationships with children and families.
  • To improve attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
  • To provide pastoral support and early help for families.
  • To work alongside staff and external agencies to safeguard children.
