About the Role

Connex Education is currently recruiting passionate and dedicated SEND & SEMH Teachers to work across a variety of specialist educational settings throughout Bristol. We have a wide range of opportunities available, including day-to-day flexible supply, short-term placements, and long-term full teaching responsibilities. These roles offer the chance to work within specialist settings supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including SEMH, ASD, SLD, MLD, communication needs and complex learning difficulties. Whether you are an experienced SEND teacher or a mainstream teacher looking to transition into specialist education, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact within supportive and rewarding school environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs to achieve both academically and personally
  • Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Use creative and adaptable teaching strategies to support engagement and progress
  • Manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral teams and parents/carers
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback and adapting support where required

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) preferred, although relevant SEND teaching experience will also be considered
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, SLD, or additional learning needs
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
