Connex Education Partnership provides tailored one-to-one tuition for children who are unable to attend school, supporting learners in environments that best meet their individual needs, most commonly within the family home.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Dyslexia Specialist Tutor to join our growing home tuition team. You will provide personalised one-to-one support for pupils in the Sutton Coldfield area who may have dyslexia, literacy difficulties, EHCPs, and additional SEN needs. The role focuses on building confidence, improving literacy skills, and helping pupils re-engage with learning through structured, dyslexia-friendly teaching approaches.

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday availability
  • Minimum 2 hours per day per pupil (additional hours available)
  • Opportunities across Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Harborne, Wolverhampton, and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-to-one tuition tailored to individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Use multisensory and dyslexia-friendly teaching strategies
  • Support reading, spelling, writing, comprehension, and study skills
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and families
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents and professionals
  • Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Teaching or tutoring experience (QTS or non-QTS) is essential
  • Experience supporting learners with dyslexia and SEN
  • A dyslexia/SpLD qualification or specialist training is desirable
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach
  • Driving preferred but not essential
