Connex Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive specialist setting in the Dudley area to recruit an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher for a full-time, long-term position.
This rewarding role involves teaching secondary-aged pupils who are working significantly below age-related expectations and are accessing a primary-style curriculum. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and committed to helping them achieve both academically and personally within a nurturing learning environment.
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned to the primary curriculum for secondary-aged pupils.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of complex learning needs.
- Support pupils with a variety of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and independence.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, and other professionals.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, adapting provision where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues to support successful outcomes.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- ECTs will not be considered for this position.
- Previous experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs is essential.
- Experience delivering a primary curriculum, particularly to learners working below age-related expectations, is highly desirable.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Patient, resilient and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check if not already registered on the Update Service.
- Ability to provide a minimum of two professional references, including your most recent employer.
