Location: Devizes &the surrounding areas
Pay: £150–£250 per day PAYE

About the Role

Connex Education Partnership is looking for Life Skills Teachers to work across specialist SEND schools and provisions in Devizes and the surrounding areas.

This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys practical, purposeful learning and wants to help pupils develop skills they can use both in school and beyond.

You’ll support young people to build greater independence, confidence and practical awareness, adapting activities to suit individual abilities and future goals.

  • Cooking, food preparation and healthy choices
  • Money management and budgeting
  • Shopping and using community facilities
  • Travel training and road safety
  • Communication and social skills
  • Organisation and household routines
  • Personal safety and wellbeing
  • Careers and preparation for adulthood
  • Employability and workplace skills

The Pupils

You may work with pupils with a range of learning, communication, sensory and emotional needs, including:

Autism / ASC | SEMH | ADHD | Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) | Complex SEND | SPD | MLD | PMLD | SLD |

The emphasis will be on what each pupil can achieve, using practical activities, repetition and differentiated support to help them become more independent.

Your Role

  • Deliver engaging, practical Life Skills sessions
  • Adapt activities to individual needs and abilities
  • Develop pupils’ independence and confidence
  • Make learning relevant to everyday life
  • Support communication and social development
  • Encourage problem-solving and decision-making
  • Monitor progress and celebrate individual achievements
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
  • Support preparation for adulthood and future pathways

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS is essential
  • Teaching experience within Primary or Secondary education
  • SEND experience is desirable
  • Experience teaching Life Skills, PSHE, Citizenship or vocational subjects is advantageous
  • A practical and creative approach to teaching
  • Ability to differentiate learning effectively
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
